I am very excited that Bandai Tamashii Nations is going to release the SH Figuarts DBZ Ginyu figure. This certainly means that there are plans for the remaining four Ginyu Special Squadron (or Ginyu Force) characters.
The Ginyu Force, led by Captain Ginyu himself, was a group of five elite warriors who worked for Frieza. Each of the Ginyu Force members was “High-Level Executive Class” fighters. However, their behavior was often childish and comical.
Every time the Ginyu Force made an entrance, there would be a different set of poses for each member. These dramatic and hilarious entrances became the hallmark of the Ginyu Force.
Therefore, it was crucial that the SH Figuarts DBZ Ginyu be able to replicate these poses.
From the pictures I have seen, the SHF DBZ toy line did not disappoint and did justice to the Ginyu character.
I look forward to having all five members of the Ginyu Force on display in my toy cabinet.
Is the Ginyu Figure Fun to Play with?
In terms of accessories, the SHF DBZ Ginyu comes with 3 replacement head parts, 4 replacement wrist parts, one replacement chest damage part and a Four Star Namek Dragon Ball. (They really have huge balls on Namek)
I am not sure if we will see all seven Namek Dragon Balls included in other characters. We may see the Namek Shen Rong in future releases as we already have the Earth Shen Rong. It is definitely a possibility that brings anticipation and excitement.
Captain Ginyu’s maximum power level is 120,000. The rest of the Ginyu Force members have powers of between 30,000 to 60,000. This makes Ginyu the undisputed leader.
On top of that, Ginyu has a special technique called Body Change. With this technique, he is able to swap his consciousness with another individual. In the manga, Ginyu intentionally wounds himself before performing Body Change with Goku.
This can be re-enacted in the SH Figuarts DBZ Ginyu figure.
Ginyu’s plan was to ensure that Goku could not fight back with a weakened body once the swap was complete. It was a risky move that paid off.
There is one thing that I wished Bandai Tamashii Nations could have added into the SH Figuarts DBZ Ginyu figure. It would be perfect if a frog accessory together with a Ginyu Stunned Face were added.
Of course, the cost would be a concern and I understand that we cannot have the best of both worlds.
Should I Buy the SH Figuarts DBZ Ginyu Figure?
The SHF DBZ Ginyu is the first of the Ginyu Force to be released and that makes him a must-buy. The price of this figure is sure to go up in the future as more Ginyu Force members are released.
