Recently, I re-watched My Neighbor Totoro, by Studio Ghibli when it was released on Netflix.
I first watched this anime when I was 18 years old. 20 years later, I have almost no recollection of what the story was about. All I can remember is the opening theme song.
Since my wife had never watched the show before, we decided to watch this classic together on a lazy afternoon.
I shall not go into discussing the story of My Neighbor Totoro. That would be a topic for another post.
Unsurprisingly, my wife who loves such weird and cute creatures now adores the characters from the show.
She went shopping immediately and found this set of My Neighbor Totoro Tumblers.
We decided to put these 3 tumblers in the living room clock, next to a small leaf. I think that the leaf placement is quite apt and reminds me of the leaf umbrella scene from the anime.
Totoro is actually a species name and there are 3 Totoro creatures in the anime.
The big gray one is Oh-Totoro (literally Big Totoro)
The middle-sized blue one is Chuu-Totoro (Medium Totoro)
Finally, the tiny white one is Chibi-Totoro (Mini Totoro).
In the show, Big Totoro is actually much bigger than the Medium Totoro and Mini Totoro so the Tumblers are not really to scale. However, they still look adorable and fit in nicely with my home decor.
This set of Totoro Tumblers can be found on Amazon.com.
